Le poste

Proman is seeking an Operations Director for one of its clients. The company specializes in construction, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects including canals, tunnels, dams, bridges, culverts, and viaducts. It is well-regarded for successfully completing complex projects with precision and a methodical approach.

The Operations Director role will involve recruiting project personnel, overseeing training and development, and implementing performance management initiatives for the project teams. The Manager will also be responsible for leading, motivating, and engaging the project staff to ensure the projects are completed on time and efficiently. Additionally, the Operations Manager will play a key role in implementing best practices and enhancing operational procedures and associated programs.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and approval of execution plans for a range of heavy civil engineering projects.
  • Preparation and approval of project budgets, along with forecasting and related financial reporting.
  • Development and negotiation of agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Planning, approval, and supervision of project timelines.
  • Handling and resolution of claims and any legal actions related to contract disputes.
  • Comprehensive management of personnel and resource allocation for project execution.
  • Design and implementation of operational strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to effectively execute strategies.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted effectively, on schedule, and within financial limits.
  • Review and enhance operational systems and workflows.
  • Optimize and apply various programs related to operations, such as staff training, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Develop and implement strategies for operational hiring.
  • Interview potential candidates for operational roles.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards for all operational processes and programs.
  • Guide, support, and coach project teams.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership teams in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Engage in management meetings to contribute to strategic planning and propose solutions for operational challenges.

Le profil

  • Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a managerial role with increasing responsibilities.
  • Having certifications such as PMI, P.Eng, or PMP is a plus.
  • Experience in developing schedules, managing budgets, and overseeing company operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project within the relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with financial management and business operations.
  • Ability to speak and write in French
